That is freaky cool.
Back when I was in college that would definitely be fun to smoke a joint and listen to.
It would still be fun but Mrs. KR2 doesn't allow that sort of thing . . . neither does Miami Metro police.
So, I'll have a wine cooler and listen to it again.

Love the thunder and rain but the crackling fire was a bit too much.

Wow, I like this! I could see this as the background to an Audio Book. Setting the tone and such.

I've updated the mix a bit....
Soundcluck wouldn't let me upload a replacement, so it's in cognito as phos-IV-escent.

Lemme know if I'm on the right track.

Drums still wont co-operate :?

There's probably somemore mixing wizardry I'd like to explore with it, only; three days at it has wore me out!

So - On with the next part of the song!

(oh, and if you could, let me know if it's too far to the left.... I really can't hear much with my right ear. Thankx!)

Yep the drums are pooping out on you.
Go for the big tympani drum sound!

What gave you the idea of the audience applauding the orchestra's warm up?
Have you been to a concert where that has happened? :)

The only thing I could think of is to fade out the fire as he's walking across the room.
It would give the effect of him leaving the room . . . moving away from the fireplace.

I didn't notice any thing unusual about the left/right mix. It sounded OK to me.

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

Hey KR!
Thankx for the input :D

Yeah, those are tympani drums.
They were the second thing I did though, and I think that I ruined them when I cemented them together
I needed something to hide the seam where I kept looping the cello part together.
And that's how this all started!

That is really annoying though.
Def. going to have to fix them :?
They sound fine on the master.

Actually, the orchestra tuning up, and the applause that followed were all part of a field recording
of the actual event.
So - it must have really happened.
I was taken by that fact, and was why I used that sample.
It fit into the overall absurdity of the piece!

Speaking of that part; Does it sound like they are trying to play something from Star Trek there,
or is it just my 'magination?

The fire.... yeah....

Well, that is a bit hard to explain.

It's not really suppose to be a fire place.... sorry

I've thought of it as being started by the lightning strike.
At times; the whole place is burning (where ever that is).
Other times; it's the piano burning!
Of course, it's really the piano player's desire/soul/mind, etc....
As the whole thing is really happening internally.
Sort of a portrait of a young artist thing....?

This is meant to be absolutely absurd, and has caused me to roll with laughter as certain revelations made themselves
known.
So, I hope you can find the humor in it!
(or at the least, appreciate the absurdity - LOL!)

Thankx again 8)

Okay,
I've got the drums sorted a bit.

Replaced the old ones!

They break up a tad bit.... much better sounding though.

It was a quick fix....

I'm not entirely satisfied with the placement or the level....
I'll get back to it

Ken

ps - I changed all the links to the correct one.

The reason I asked about the audience applauding the orchestra warm up is . . .
I could see that happening . . . and am not surprised.
Did you notice it started with just one person, others then join (I wonder if it was by reflex) and then more join in as they see the humor in the situation.
It's not really suppose to be a fire place.... sorry

I've thought of it as being started by the lightning strike.
At times; the whole place is burning (where ever that is).
Other times; it's the piano burning!

(or at the least, appreciate the absurdity - LOL!)

Now you know there's no way anybody is going to be able to discern that.
A crackling fire in a home is automatically equated with a fireplace . . .
not the whole darn house (piano included) in flames. . .
especially as he continues to play and then mildly coughs, as if clearing his throat.
You need to increase the crackling and DEFINITELY increase the amount and intensity of his coughing for anyone to come up with that imagery . . . .
And then walking to the door? Wouldn't he be running or staggering? (and coughing even more)

I'll listen to the remix later. Wife is demanding my attention right now. (sigh)

KR2 (pushing plum)

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

good recording. it is an interesting and enticing listen. the placement of the objects in the mix is cool.
BTW there is something burning on my end.

i am not quite sure what that was - but it kept me listening to the end!

Hi Ken!

Nice recording and nice ideas. I like it a lot! I missed the first mix but I really enjoy this one.

I think I said previously. Usually I attend classical music concerts (much more than "modern" ones). My favorite moment is always when all the orchestra is tuning "against" the soloist. It is the first time you heard all the instruments playing unison just a simple note and it is when you feel the really volume and space that they can develop.

Congrats man! 8)

And, please, try to post your music more frequently! :D

Thanks for sharing.
