I'm trying to pluck the courage up to get out and play - so I'm trying to put a few songs together for possibly playing at open mic nights. Bear in mind, I didn't practise these before playing - just picked the guitar up and hit the record button. All comments gratefully received.

Hey Vic, the guitar sounds pretty good to me, however I can't really hear your voice over the guitar!
From what I can hear you have a good voice, and it's good to see a youtube post from you!
In Space, no one can hear me sing!
Well done Vic! One of my favorite The Who songs (Behind the blue eyes).
Thanks for sharing.
the guitar sounds great. you play well.
the voice sounds tight. needs some limbering up.
a few long singing songs and a pint might help.
go for it. play out. 8)
well I can't listen to these while I'm at work any streaming audio/video is blocked but I'll have to listen to them when I get home, but I've heard Vic's singing and playing and...uh..well..it's always sounded good to me.
Vic I don't know why you'd even worry about playing out you had been doing awhile ago at your local pub I would have thought I'd be second nature to you by now.
I am interested in hearing Under the Bridge, I was playing that a couple years ago by myself but never had anyone to play it with so I never play it now. I'd have to relearn it.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!
Very good; love the little percussive tapping on Under the Bridge. :)
good vids Vic - well played. I also checked out Hey Joe - you two did a good version there!!!
Just a thought, if we ever play near where you live, you could always come and do a solo spot in the interval if you fancy it??
and then there could be beer to be drunk!!!

Ah, there's a big difference between jamming along with a few other people and playing solo at an open mic! I've only ever done that once before - and that was in Texas, where no-one knew me!
As for the percussive tapping on UTB - that's so's I know when to come back in! Strange, you'd think after playing that song a few hundred times, I'd remember to bring my fingers up for the F#m chord nice and early!
The voice is a weakness - but then again, at an open mic, I'd hope they'd supply a microphone....I find it hard enough to carry a tune whilst playing anyway, without actually trying to get some power into the voice....but that shouldn't be a problem with a mic.

My favorite was Behind Blue Eyes . . . start off with that one.
Too bad you don't have some backing tracks to supply drums and bass.
I would think it's kind of asking a lot to be a one man band.
My favorite restaurants are the ones that have some live music . . .
food is secondary . . . although my wife sees it differently.
Good luck and don't forget to have fun

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
Nice job Vic but why did you crop yourself off in the vid?

Two reasons - one, I thought it'd be helpful if people could actually see what I'm playing - and two, who the hell would want to see my ugly mush!
BTW, the way I've done Substitute is pretty much note-for-note the way I've tabbed it out in Easy Songs; Under The Bridge is mostly Wes's tab from easy songs, apart from the intro; and Behind Blue Eyes is the way I've been playing it for a while, different to David's lesson or (Matteo's, I think...) tab in ESD - I tend to keep the top E string open, that one I worked out for myself!
