This is a little march-type anthem I've had for a while, but since getting my Epiphone LP Standard a few weeks ago I decided to work it up into a recording.

It's mostly finished, but I'm hoping to add some more voices to the chorus, when I can get some friends together.

Feedback would be welcome. :)

I thought the keyboard part at the beginning was a bit stiff( sounded a little to "midi", Maybe some reverb might help soften it up. Otherwise its very good :D Nice guitars, vocals great as usual. I agree with some more voices to the chorus. very nice 8)

Cool song, I like it. :) If I could make some suggestions: your mix is very trebly with the guitar, hi-hats, vocals and flanger. The bass-drum is very soft and thin and there's not a whole lot else happening in the lower regions. If you could select a heavier drumkit and add a simple MIDI bass line the song would *feel* stronger.

The synth intro is a tad awkward as Ken said but I think the problem is that the rhythm isn't tight enough, enabling quantization should instantly fix that. If you could also flatten the velocity differences a bit and have the notes follow-each other up a tad smoother you've got yourself a killer intro. A final issue could be that your lead playing is at times loosing track a bit: you seem to be unsure of what to play next and that sometimes leads to rather 'uncertain' licks.

I have to admit I'm normally not this critical here but this song really has potential. The rhythm guitar and most of the lead is excellent, the vocals fit in very well and the overal structure is flawless. With just a bit more tightness and balls this song would seriously rock.

Thanks guys!

I'm definitely going to take that advice about the rhythm on the synth riff and the mix in general. I do have a bass guitar recorded on the track, but I'm still working with my Zoom G2.1u unit to find the right settings to direct inject it so I can get a good recognizable tone from it.

Arjen, you're definitely right about there being some "uncertain" licks in there, but I'd done it a number of times and was happy enough with the overall result I wanted to keep it. Not sure if I might go in and punch in over some of the funkier places in the lead.

Thanks again!

Here's a new mix with a bit more on the bottom end and some reverb on the piano. Might've gone too wet on the piano's reverb, I'm not sure.

And here is a much more completed version, with extra vocals, re-recorded rhythm guitar and piano riff, plus reverb and a much beefier chorus.

What do you think? An improvement?

Thanks!

Very cool song!

I think the latest version is an improvement, just be careful not to lose the lead guitar under everyone else. Maybe it could be brought up just a hair. JMO anyway.

Thanks, Margaret. I've done a new mix which I'm hoping will be the final version. Although I'm afraid I may have mixed the organ a little high in this one.

Cool man. I actually added the previous mix to my 'playlist of the week' so I must have heared it more then fifty times by now. Really like the new mix, the vocals seem more clear without losing the original tone and the bass is much better as well. Great job, this one will be in next week's playlist. :D

Just for the fun I did some extra tweaking to the track, let me know if you want me to mail it to you.

Hey progressions, I really like this, nice job!

It's been interesting listening to the development as you go along, and it's always nice to hear something I really like coming out of a G2.1u, as I have one too :)

Do you mind me asking how the rest's done?
