It does have the sliders. It's not Audacity that's the problem. Everything is all mixed together. If did the voice convo in MSN with you, you'd hear the music I had on, even if I didn't have the mic. People even say they can hear what's playing in YouTube.
It's probably a soundcard issue - I had to get into the settings and tick a box to stop the sound looping back on itself and recording the backing track along with my guitar part.
