Kevin Laliberté – Elation

Indeed a CD of beautiful music. Kevin Laliberté’s classical and gypsy guitar, accompanied by bass and drums is a pleasure for the ears.

Moroccan Dream will take you on a gypsy caravan, while Someday makes you feel like your in front of a fire just before a storm. Then Lisboa starts playing and you expect the belly dancers (and why are they not included?).

And, just to change the mood a little, a wonderful version of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic Mrs. Robinson.

Something I particularly like about the overall playing is that it’s not perfect: sometimes, his fingers on the strings give that little metallic sound we guitarists know so well, meaning that your finger is not quite well placed on the string. This adds to the human feel of the album and gives it even more warmth.

I highly recommend this album and suggest to Kevin that he come up with more.
