Steve Unruh – Song To The Sky

I’m usually not fond of self-produced albums, especially when you have only one guy playing all the instruments. But this is one strong exception.

Steve Unruh is one talented guy! This is an amazing album from start to finish. Never press stop, ignore pause.

Although this album is rather hard to categorize. It generally fits into the description of progressive rock, but it has a strong folkish side to it. For some reason that I can’t identify, I keep thinking Shawn Phillips. Maybe at some point I’ll understand, but he doesn’t really sound like Phillips. Perhaps it’s the overall themes or the overall flavor of the album. Whatever the reason, there’s certainly nothing wrong with being compared to Shawn Phillips.

On Steve’s website, you’ll find excerpts of the album. I strongly, no, let me rephrase that, Very strongly urge you to go there and listen to them. The music is so good that you love it from the start and the more you listen to it, the better it gets.

Unruh gets one of my rare 5 star ratings. Please buy this album so we can get many, many more.
