Events Horizon – Wednesday, August 15, 2012
Hello and, yes, it’s been a while. Between a lot going on over the summers months (for both myself and my computer), it seems like I’ve been on a bit of an extended vacation. Albeit a vacation where one is constantly doing things and not relaxing. Not to mention not getting almost anything done!
Be that as it may, welcome (or “welcome back” if you prefer) to this week’s edition of the Guitar Noise Events Horizon. In case you’ve forgotten, these Events Horizong blog posts are meant to give you news and pertinent information concerning upcoming shows featuring members and friends of the Guitar Noise community, taking place all over the world. Or at least wherever and whenever people let us know they’re happening!
In the Guitar Noise community, we believe that the true power, wonder and beauty of music comes when it gets shared with the world. So whenever you’re out playing, we’d really like to do is to help promote your shows, whether it’s in a stadium or at a ten-seat coffee house. Not only is it a great way to help support each other, it’s also a terrific way to meet more musicians!

Ron Jackson, an outstanding jazz guitarist that we’ve reviewed here at Guitar Noise will be playing tonight with saxophonist Sedric Choukroun at the Brasserie Julien, which is on 3rd Avenue, between 80th and 81st Streets in New York City, New York.
And, of course, there’s also The Parlor’s weekly open mic, hosted by singer / songwriter, Marilyn Miller. It takes place tonight from 7 to 9 PM at this friendly little coffee house, located at 734 Warren Street in Hudson, New York. All ages are welcome.

Back to the Well, featuring (very) longtime GN members Dan and Laura Lasley, makes their debut tonight, playing at The Attic at Harry’s, which is on the second floor of 2949 East Lincoln Highway Sadsburryville, Pennsylvania. The show runs from 9 PM until 1 in the morning and the cover is $5. Come on out and have a fun time!
Tom McLaughlin and Life Is Drama have a 9 PM show tonight at Shaker’s Lounge. That’s at 121 West Stevenson in Ottawa, Illinois. Life is Drama is a great rocking party band and if you’re looking for a great time, you’ll definitely have one listening to these guys!

The Wishing Well visits beautiful York, England. Tonight you can catch them at The Golden Fleece, which is located at 16 Pavement. Show starts at 8 PM.
Being Thursday once again, it’s time for the weekly open mic at the Parlor, located at 734 Warren Street in Hudson, New York. All ages are welcome to this friendly event which runs from 7 to 9 PM and is hosted by local Hudson singer / songwriter Marilyn Miller.

Rhapsody of Fire, with longtime GN contributor Tom Hess on guitar, is part of the huge Agglutination Metal Festival taking place today tonight in Chiaromonte, Italy.
And if you visit the Rhythm Festival taking place at the Mansion House at Old Warden Park in Biggleswade, England, be sure to check out one of our favorite Australian bands, The Wishing Well. They’ll be on the Folk Festiival Stage at 4 PM.

We’re thrill to annouce that Alan Green will be playing a solo set as part of Hertford Music Festival today in Hertford, England. Alan will be part of the Festival’s “Musical Mystery Tour,” which features performers playing all over the town of Hertford pretty much all day long. Our illustrious Mr. Green will be playing at Rigsby’s Piano Cafe and Guest House (on Saint Andrew Street) at 2 PM and then he moves over to the Old Barge Pub (located at 2 The Folly) beginning at 3 PM. Make a point to be there and be sure to say hi to Alan for me!
The Wishing Well will be playing at The Harbour Garden Cafe, South Quay in Whitstable Harbour, England. The music starts at 1 PM.
