Hey, my friend just picked up a big old 300 watt Barcus-Berry bass amp model# 1730 with two 15'' speakers used for $150. It has a few problems, such as crackeling when you play.
Does anyone know anything about this amp or company? searched the internet but turned up nothing. For $150 I think it was a terrific deal, man it is loud. It only crackles when you are playing through it.
He is looking into having it repaired, but any idea on what might be causing the crackles when it is played? The owner said it was from the 60's, so maybe something in it is just too old? Anyway I can't wait till he gets it fixed, then a major rock sessions goin down. Before he had this little 12 watt practice amp, and now, 300 watts! this thing is about 2.5 feet wide and 4 feet tall, looks like a concert amp.
