bass amp question

hi all...im just starting bass. i play electric guitar as well. my question is that is is possible to use an electric guitar amp with a bass? i dont really have the money to fork out for a bass amp..thanks...i know it might seem like a dumb question..but..

Welcome to GN, Starchild.
That's not a dumb question. Actually, it is asked quite often.
Playing a Bass through your guitar amp will not hurt it as long as you keep the volume low.
However, you will not be happy with the sound, and will be tempted to raise the volume. DON'T!
It may not hurt the amp, but your speaker(s) is not designed to handle those low frequencies. Ripped cones never sound good.

If you are just learning Bass, there is no shame in buying a $69 DRIVE amp from MusiciansFriend.Com or elsewhere.
