I once pronounced bass, as if itwas a fish waay back in freshamn year music, and I was severely laughed at, even the teacher
The bassman is always on the prowl to make me accept that it is BASE and i still pronouce bass.I just can't make base out of the vocal chords
There used to be a brewery in England called Bass - pronounced like glass.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

I don't know if Bass still exists - if it does, it's in name only. There are only a handful of brewery companies, like Carlsberg, who own the rights to about 20 different brewing names, like Tetley, etc.
Sad but true. Fortunately Germany has approx. 2500 breweries!
One really good one is to be found at Munich airport - it's brewed on the premises and is cheaper than any local bar - they have also started putting on live music - mostly rock & blues.

..and there is also Bass ("a" not "ay"), a salt-water fish.
Yum!
The picture was for an April Fools Joke page we did a few years back. That's me on a bridge near my house, and my P-bass.
As noted above: base = bass = low or foundation (including the musical instrument)
bass (like bash) = fish

Hey just came to my thought today , are you Dan lansley :?:
So let me get this straight.
Bass (guitar) is based on base. Bass (fish) is based on bass.
If I have a brass bass with a metal base and a picture of a bass on the bass for visual effects, would I base the bass (fish) on the bass (guitar) on a fishing trip or bad drugs?
Either way, I'm basing my current headache on the basis that bass and bass are the same.
Got it...I'm going back to drums. Oh NO!!!! My drumset has a bass drum.
I'm outta here.
P.S. If you want to know what kind of bass you paint on a bass you'd first want to know what kind of bass will except base paint for painting your bass on your bass. :D
Give me another Guiness. It doesn't look like a bass (guitar) or smell like a bass (fish) based on my previous drinking experiences.

Update: following a trip to Blighty, over the weekend, I actually found a hand pump at Manchester Airport sporting the Bass name - so it at least exists in name, but as I didn't drink any, I can't tell you whether it's anything like the Bass I think I remember.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

There's a comedy skit from the show Saturday Night Live. The skit parodies inexpensive kitchen appliances advertised on American television. The bassomatic is a blender into which one throws a bass and purees the whole fish for a tasty snack.
