I own a Cort Curbow bass which I absolutely love; it has great sound, it's light on the shoulders, and I love the way it looks and feels. My only problem is the action. I have lowered the bridge saddles all the way down and the neck is absolutely straight but it just seems that the action gets incredibly high once you get past the eighth fret or so. Is this problem fixable or am I permanently stuck with action higher than Bob Marley?
If your saddles are all the way down and your neck is straight, the next thing to try is shimming the neck. This is only possible with a bolt on neck. Remove the neck, put a very thin piece of wood down by the screws at the bridge end of the neck pocket, and put the neck back on.

I'd suggest getting it looked at by a professional. Most music stores will at least have a quick look at the bass for no cost, then they'll be able to tell you exactly what's wrong with it and what can be done to fix it.
