OWA. you play in dropped C ; is that rght.?

what you have written doesnt make sense to me. it could be from my mis perception of everyone's use of I IV V.

your time signature is a waltz (3/4). but, you still do not have twelve measures. I count eight.

this is odd. I must be totally missing something.

you also wrote that for blues one needs a standard time sig, minor chords. etc.
no you dont have to stick to any of that.
but then , unless you have twelve measures you wont be playing 12 bar.

also remember that I dslike TAB. so I could be seeing something way different.

12 bar needs 12 measures. wiether in eight notes, quarter notes or wholes notes each measure has four beats.
so change your time signature from 3/4 to 4/4.
I am speaking traditionally only.

Yeah I haven't finished it yet, still not sure if those 8 measure are right. And I made that list to sum up what everyone said and to make sure that's what everyone is saying.

The tuning isn't Drop C, it's Open D5 (DADADD) Low to high.

thanks, that helps.

when I do 12 bar blues I think this way:
starting with I (your D5) count eight beats = two measures.
then IV (G) counting eight beats
then I counting eight beats
then V (A) counting four beats, IV four beats and, I four beats.
that should be 12 bars.
it is a traditional format.

once that is understood you can work it like many players do, by changing the counts on the IV and the V.

I sure hope this helps.

Well after months of re-arranging what I had...........ok, so it was like an hour with distractions in between. I took teleplayer's suggestion and greybeard and dogbite's pattern and ended up with:

I don't think it's 12 bar blues anymore. Too complicated. I played it and liked the sound of it though! It has kind of a glory feel to it. Like in an anthem. Don't think that's common in blues.

Well I didn't end up with a 12 bar blues, but I think I'll call this a happy accident. Thank you for your help everyone!

What are you using to write your sheet music? It looks real slick!

Chuck Norris invented Kentucky Fried Chicken's famous secret recipe, with eleven herbs and spices. But nobody ever mentions the twelfth ingredient: Fear!

I'm using the Power Tab Editor. You can get it here:

It makes re-arranging music easy and I like the chord dictionary myself.

So long as you like it, even if it isn't "traditional 12 bar blues" you still learned something new from it.
