I've found 2 tabs (several sites, but all carry one or the other tab). The most likely answer seems to be from one of the tabs, in which he points out that part of the song alternates bar for bar between 4/4 and 2/4
It is quite difficult to play the second
and third guitar in this song - the bars are both 4/4
and 2/4. Count 1, 2, 3, 4 , 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.
Key: Am-C

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

The 'official' tab book has it alternating between 4/4, 3/4 and 2/4 with the strumming in 8ths and 16ths played with a mixture of any number and order of rests and mutes. No idea if it's right. Good-luck :)

It ain't 14/4.

I can't find my copy of the CD at the moment, so I just listened to the half minute clip on WalMart. What I hear is a mixed meter:

4 bars of 4/4
1 bar of 2/4
2 bars of 4/4
1 bar of 2/4

Now that's 28 beats... so at some point some yahoo counted the beats, found 28 beats between clear phrase beginnings, and decided that since 28/4 time is unheard of, it must be 14/4. Google shows me how that original miscount has spread... yet another reason to work out tunes for yourself rather than relying on bad tab :)

I sang Ralph Vaughan Williams Fantasia on Christmas Carols a couple of years back with a full chorus behind me.

There are sections in it where all of the chorus sections are singing different time signatures from each other and me. To top it off, RVW liked to switch time signatures every couple of measures.

No idea what that has to do with anything, except thank the lord you don't have to play it on guitar.

If you want to see an odd time signature try "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche. I started fumbling my way through this one yesterday. It is in 15/16 time. I assume the time sig. is accurate as this is out of a book not an internet TAB.
Wish me luck

I think that is actually 4/4, 4/4, 4/4, 3/4
