I was wondering if there are pointers when playing an alternating baseline in which one of the base notes isn't part of the normal fingering of the chord. For example, I play an Am, and the alternating baseline requires the bass note X2XXXX.

I would imagine one would just do it whichever way makes it easier to transition to the next chord, or get back to the current chord. But maybe there are conventions for a good reason I don't understand yet :)

You'll definately want to think ahead, which chord am I coming from? Which chord am I going to? It's all one big puzzle, the fun part is figuring it out 8)
