I've recently become interested in backing tracks. Does anyone know of any good sites, I mean some of the free samples I've herd are pretty lame. I'm looking for classic rock stuff like, Walk This Way, Crazy Train "not a big fan of tapping" and Welcome to the jungle. Any help would be most useful. THANX!!!

The trouble with most backing tracks (i.e. most of the free ones) is that they are MIDI and sound, at best, canned. To get good quality MP3 recordings, you normally have to pay - one exception is a site that has a pile of Shadows' backing tracks in MP3, but that's not what you're looking for.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

I know these are MIDI, but there's a load of classic rock, from Blind Faith and Dire Straits to Green Day and Pearl Jam, on Betty Lou's site: [ulr] http://www.geocities.com/bettylourock/ [/url]

I actually don't mind MIDI - after all, playing to backing tracks is by definition pretty artificial, if only 'cos there's no interaction with the other musicians like there is when you're actually jamming.

Sounded at least reasonable to me, all that matters is that notes are right for the song.
