All of the lessons on here are great, they are certainly a good way to start.
Apart from those try looking at http://www.cyberfret.com and justin guitar lessons on youtube. Both of those have helped me alot.

Kind of kidding but kind of serious also.. Three working fingers on one hand and the ability to hear. The rest is just developing more skills to express yourself at a higher level. The virtuoso plays, the basic strummer giving his vocals harmony and rythmn also plays.
Play until it hurts then stop. Wait a duration (maybe 15 minutes), then continue. It will come with time. DO NOT practice constantly with pain. In time, it will all come together. Trust me!

Here is a basic foundation to play guitar:
1. Know how to hold the guitar properly (very important, more than you might think).
2. Tuning.
3. Open major and minor chords.
4. Patience.
