I bought a Robert Johnson songbook, one reason for buying this one is it said 'shows capo placement'.
I dont know how to read that. What am i looking for ?
On each song, above the staff, there is a notation : N.C.
Is that the key, and if so what does it mean ?

Thanks for any assistance with this.

Most books that show capo placement will have a notation like "capo at 3rd fret" (or similar) above the beginning of the sheet music. Chord charts that show your fingers are often shown as if they were in open position (without a capo)... so if you see "G" as the chord with capo at 3, you're really playing Bb.

The "N.C." means "no chord" - it's common in a lot of sheet music when there's a single note melody going on, like a bass run, or an a capella (unaccompanied) vocal part.
