I'm a new forum user and new guitar player (2 months) and started on a Epi AJ 1 and discovered I really enjoy playing, so after reading all the rave reviews on Seagull guitars I purchased an S6 and it arrived yesterday. My question is how do I clean this type of finish, seeing that the guitar arrived with alot of smears, Seagull's site recomends a soap based polish, can anyone offer any help? I'll keep everyone abreast of my progress on this beautiful guitar...Peace

Martin makes a guitar polish.

I use a micro-fibre cloth - no water, no solvents, no polish.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

I use the same for my acoustic. For stubborn marks and finger prints, I'll breath on the finish to get some condensation on it then wipe it off using the cloth.

I used to use a mild soap and had good results. Now I use martin guitar polish with a micro-fibre cloth and I like it better. I basically only do it when I am changing strings. With the strings removed it is a lot easier to reach all areas.

Cheers,

Max

I do the same.
