I write my own songs, but always get stuck trying to figure out a bridge. How can I use a chord chart to figure out where I should go when I want to move into the bridge? For example, I do a chorus of G6-A5-D-E7, then don't know where to go. Thanks.

If it was that simple, all songs would sound alike.

The verse, chorus, and bridge should all be related somehow. If the verse/chorus are in E, the bridge could be in E, or Em, or in B (a fifth above E), or it might leap into something entirely new.

In spite of the relationship, you want each part to have different sounds. A decent rule of thumb: each is composed of rhythm, melody, and harmony. If you change all three at the same time, it'll sound like it was an odd piece of music that you just slapped into place - keep at least one, if not two, of the elements the same as you move from section to section.
