I am having some problems with the double barre at the 12th & 14th frets (index@12th & ring@14th). I just can't seem to get consistant clean notes. I know barres are harder the higher up the fret you go but should I have thios much difficulty? I can play barre cleanly from the 1st to 9th cleanly.
If you wanted to know I am learning the main riff from Alice Cooper's School's Out...I'm getting ready for June!! 8)
Lets see if I can explain how I would play it.
I would be fretting just the 12th on the E with my index and the 14th with my ring finger. These would be the only notes and strings I'm touching. Then I would shift my hand position just a little to allow me to fret the three notes on the 14th with my ring finger and 12th with my index, only touching the three notes needed to create those triads/A and G voicings.
Hope you understand how I'm adjusting my fretting hand to each part as a seperate voicing.
Joe
Thanks Joe...so if this is the tab:
SCHOOL'S OUT
BY
ALICE COOPER
Em (Main Riff Method 1)
E-|------------------------------------------------------------------|
B-|---------14-----------12-----------14-----------------------------|
G-|---------14-----------12-----------14--12-------------------------|
D-|---------14-----------12-----------14-----------------------------|
A-|-14--14-------14--14------14--14----------------------------------|
E-|-12--12-------12--12------12--12----------------------------------|
Em (Main Riff Method 2)
E-|------------------------------------------------------------------|
B-|------------------------------------------------------------------|
G-|---------14-----------12----------14---12-------------------------|
D-|-14--14--14---14--14--12--14--14--14------------------------------|
A-|-14--14-------14--14------12--14----------------------------------|
E-|-12-----------12----------12--------------------------------------|
Then I just won't be doing full barres but instead partial barres that basically "rotate" from the bass strings to the treble strings?
Thanks again
Awsome song, although I would suggest one thing when it comes to this problem.
A chord of:
E-|-----
B-|-----
G-|-----
D-|-14--
A-|-14--
E-|-12--
Can also be played as:
E-|-----
B-|----
G-|--9--
D-|--9--
A-|--7--
E-|-----
This is gonna result in a much 'cleaner' sounding chord.
Your Welcome
Joe
