could someone explain how to down tune using a korg chromatic tuner or any other method. I've tried some of the lessons on the site but they were very confusing.

Im not sure I iunderstand your problem.
using a tuner you should be able to tune any string to any pitch.
just watch the pointer/or/light.

if you tune down to D lets say...the tuner is set for middle C, like on a piano.

so stating with your E string instead of tuning to E just tune to D.
the next string A is tuned down tow intervals to G.

hope this helps...unlesss I dont unerstand the question..sorry.

Some tuners have a auto function and a manual function. Make sure the auto function is selected then try again.

If you are using the Korg GA-30 Tuner. Use the Flat button to set the tuner to recognise a flatter pitch. For each 1/2 a step down press the flat button once. For example from E down to D press the button twice to show 2 flat symbols in the left hand corner display. The display will still show 6E but at the flatter pitch. To check this put tthe tuner settings back to normal and it definately wont register as 6E.

i'm using a CA-30 and when i try to tune to D or any of the open tunings using the 440hz calibration it just doesn't seem to work. so I don't know if i also need to change the calibration or i'm better of working w/o the tuner
