Take your palm and mute the low strings and play like eighth notes for that grunge sound..good

Was what I have been told , about playing grunge music ..

Question ?

eighth notes they would be what exactly ? ( any takers ?)

Say your playing D/A/G/C/ eighth notes would be placed where on my guitar ???

Thanks in advanced

I think they're talking fast, like 8 notes per bar fast. I could be way wrong.

Yep. But a lot of grunge bands use all downstrokes.

Yes, most do use all downstrokes - but they have to play twice as fast as someone using down and up strokes! :D

"Standard" time for music is 4 quarter notes played per measure. An eighth note lasts 1/2 as long as a quarter note. SO, there are eight quarter notes in a measure of music played in standard time. I think all the person who is giving you advice is trying to say, is to strum each chord 8 times before changing to the next chord. Do it fairly fast and mute the strings. You will be able to hear the "grunge" sound.
