It's not easy for anyone that has never played it before.
It will come to you with practice.
Try playing the same chord shape farther up the neck around the 5th fret.
Strings are easier to press there. Then when you get that mastered move it one fret at a time back down until you get to the first fret.

It's called the "F" chord for a reason. Keep that in mind.

I just barre the bottom two(two thinnest ones) strings with my index finger then my middle finger on the second fret of the third string then my ring finger on the third fret of the fourth string.

Like this:

e----1
b----1
g----2
d----3
a-----
e----- or I just play a power chord like this:

e----
b----
g----
d---3
a---3
e---1

Follow Missileman 's advise.

Ensure the action of the guitar is properly set up and you have been playing open chords for sometime. To explain the latter, your fingers need to get stronger before you can play barres well.

Bry,

Nothing really to add, it really comes with practice but you are definitely not alone. Almost everyone has trouble with that chord when they start.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!

could also try barring it at the 8th fret and fingering 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings on 10th fret to make an F in the A barre position
8-----
10----
10-----
10------
8-------
