Chord tabs for this great John Denver song abound, but I can't find the right hand finger picking pattern. Anyone
out there know how it goes?

:roll: OK simply because this is beginner Q&A and on the off-chance that you are maybe not that keen on memorizing tab, I did do an easy reggae arrangement of Country Roads, which I didn't tab out, but it just uses a few basic patterns:

... starting with a reggae triplet pattern (thumb stroke on the 3 bottom strings in turn) followed (to the best of my memory) with some simple arpeggios and then some basic strumming to keep the beat going ... :wink: you be the judge ...

Lol, the tab did the same to me (Most tabs do that to me, but anyhow).

I would thus suggest that you listen to the song and try creating a pattern with the general rhythm guitar that is being played through the song. That way you will find it much easier to do fingerpicking over this great song.

I play it both in rhythm and fingerpicked but not following any specific tab. It is just the feel.

You could go to the lessons and go through David Hodge's lesson on Travis picking and use that. There are only 4 or 5 chords in Country Roads, so it wouldn't be too difficult to learn the song with Travis picking.

Don't know if this helps, Arf, but in version 1 it's the same fingerpicking pattern over and over.
It's just the chords that are changing. And it looks like a lot of them are bar chords (the measures that have 4 or higher fretting). But I could be wrong. I'm just a beginner and am interested in trying this one out also.
