What can i do so my fingers dont touch other strings during chords and whatnot? I mean its so frustrating always hearing a muffled sound from one of the strings. and its really hard not to touch the strings while pushing down the string i want to play.
Trust me.. I thought the same thing... I have big fingers too. After some time, you will develop techniques that work for you, and calluses to help. Make sure you wrist is bent so only the tips of your fingers are touching. Keep with it... it will come... I am proof.

yeah, or the pad of your finger. It just takes time, but what lue said, you will develop what works for you.
