In general, we recommend harmony-central.com for reviews, as they have a very thorough database.
In specific, questions posted in the relevant forums (eg: Amps & EFX) are usually answered promptly. There are dozens of threads discussing guitars and amps for first-time buyers, and if you as about a specific model, you will get honest answers.

Hello, This is what the BEST wife in the world gave me for Christmas. I almost passed out when I saw the Gibson box as I was unwrapping it! It's my first guitar & I have never played before. That's why I posted in the beginner's q&a. This guitar can make some serious noise & she can purr like a kitten. I love the Blues & a whole lotta of of other music. Thanks, Michael
