What chords or patterns or other nuances give a piece a really strong Spanish feel?
I think Flamenco would be perfect for a soft intro into a song which becomes far more rocky!

Here is an easy one play it up then down. I'm sure it's not Flemenco but it does have a "spanish" feel to help get you started.e l-----0------0------0-------------------------------------------
B l-----0------0------0----------------------------------------------
G l-----1------2------4--------------------------------------------
D l-----2------3------5----------------------------------------
A l-----2------3------5-------------------------------------
E l-----0------0------0-----------------------------------------
Haha.
Yeah, that's the one thing I know!
:D
I love playing that pattern over and over again with quick strumming. That's what lead me onto thinking I might like being able to do a bit of (pick played) flamenco.
Thanks for the input though.

try this--another easy one but fits a spanish feel if you give it the right strum and begin with an upstroke. G- Am. Or try "fingerpicking" it -- sort of "wave" your fingers over the the strings you want to pick not really picking at a certain string but brushing them randomly with your fingers. Not the most poper way but sounds neat and is sort of fun. l--3-------5--------------------

just watch desperado/once upon a time in mexico and copy the riffs he plays ahahha
on a serious note, I've no idea but spanish sounding guitar parts sound ace in rock songs.

Amen to that. I'm not a big Metallica fan at all, but the intro to Battery is great.
(And I rented the Once Upon a Time in Mexico DVD TWICE! It's so great to watch that guitaring. I might rent it again.) :)

The real giveaway with Flamenco is in the cadence - try I#-I (F-E, or Bb-A) for a good starting point. Then go into 12/8 time with emphasis on 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12.
Enjoy,
A :-)
