Can anyone give me a nice easy song to start learning on electric?

I am ok at acoustic (barre chords apart!) but need to ease myself into the electric world without getting frustrated.

Suggestions please.

I like all sorts of music APART from metal - classic rock is perfect.

Ta

Just play what youv'e learned on the acoustic and add some effects! reverb, chorus, delay ect..

I would, but Simon and Garfunkel songs just sound a bit weird on electric!

Have to remember you're dealing with a bit of an old hippy here.

Thanks though...I NEVER would have thought of that

From one old hippie to another here is an easy Led Zeppelin song I tabbed awhile back. It is truly easy and sounds great (and NO BARRE CHORDS). You should go back through the Easy Song Database, you will see many other songs you remember.

Misty Mountain Hop

If you have any questions about this song let me know.

If it's classic rock you're after......

Paranoid, Smoke on the Water, Spirit in the Sky, (I was listening to "the best of...1970 last night!) Mr Tambourine Man, Sympathy for the Devil....I could go on and on, but try Planet Rock....

and try playing along with the classics....works for me!

:) :) :)

Easy? Chuck Berry's Memphis. A I chord and a IV chord ( E & A, A & D, C &F . . . )

When you do decide to ease into bar chords Beatles would be excellent, such as Let It Be, very simple, and a bar chord song. But you could learn other songs by the Beatles such as What You're Doing, which has a simple riff, and a few easy elementary chords.

A further thought....how about "It's All Over Now" by the Stones?....theres a nice little riff at the start, then it's a D chord all the way through the verse, then (D) "because I (A)used to love her," (A/A/G) "but it's all over (D)now".....there's a D6 thrown in there, but you just keep the D chord on and play the 4th frey of the G string as well.....

Shouldn't take too long to work out, hell it's one of those songs that comes on the radio all the time, you just pick up a guitar and play along....

Californication, by RHCP is a (relatively) easy song. Simple and effective opening riff. Open chords. And a guitar solo, that's relatively easy. The unison bends in the solo pose some challenge, at least for me.
