Hey everyone. I just noticed the other day that when I strum/pick strings with a pick, I don't actually touch the strings with the point of the pick, but more on the side/inside edge of it. I was wondering if this is normal, or if I should be working on changing it. Will it cause problems later on, or are there advantages of using just the tip of the pick? Depending on what I am doing, it seems to change how much to the side of the pick I hit the strings with, but I just wanted to see if this is ok. Thanks! :)

you are fine. just notice when the pick is in a certain direction or how you hold and what kind of sounds are produced.
my pick moves all over the place. sometimes I have very very little showing. then my flesh can also hit the string; I get so cool harmonic overtones then.
you will find many good things by paying attention to how you hold and use the pick. there are no wrong methods. maybe there are some wrong results, but that too is subjective.
most of my picks have serrated sides from sliding it down the string. that's when I rock out. haha.

I use the pick as you say... in fact, I use one of the rounded points. I prefer that sound and also it is more comfortable to me.

I think there isn't a "bad way" with the picks. I don't know if there are two players that use the pick in the same way. For example, Carlos Santana is one of most peculiars: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKo0FK6-O-E
