okay ... moving up from my Marshall MG10CD ... sweet little amp, but not enough crunch for my tastes improving skills ... ha ha ...
Have been looking at the MG15 line of amps from Marshall, and my main question is this .... digital effects, are they any good? or should I just stay with a true spring reverb and save some money?
If the digital effects are just as good, I guess I could spring the extra 50 bucks ...
Really, I'm torn between the MG15RCD and the MG15DFX ...
Thanks
Thomas

If I'm not mistaken on the dfx model you can't chain together your FX(Use more than one at a time). If it were me I'd go without play clean and add FX as needed.

If I were you I would chose neither. The entire MG (and AVT) line by Marshall is total and utter crap. Really, you'll regret it.
then what would you suggest for a beginner wanting to keep things under 180?

Yah... the Vox is an exellent amp, all around better than anything in its price range, though its not the best in ultra distortion. If you want insane distortion, check out the Line 6 Spider amps. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/482255/

That Vox AD would be an excellent choice. Wouldn't go with the pathfinder, wait instead for it's new version. (TR series or something)
