my band wants me to write a solo for one of our songs, we are a single guitar band an i never play solos because the only scales I know are major or minor scales witch i hate improving with due to that openy sound. Anyway I was hopeing someone would reccomend me some scale(s) to learn that i could improve with. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanx

E minor pentatonic scale was the first scale I used to solo, but you might already know it. I solo'd to Purple Haze BTW :) .

I guess the question would be what type of song, what is the overall feel and what key is it in?
I say depends on the mood or feeling your want comunicate within the song.
