Having listened to this song 20 zillion times, and tried to master it since, like, FOREVER!, I still can't seem to get it 'note for note'. The pattern Ralph Mctell plays does seem to sound like a basic, standard (?) picking pattern, with a few hammers and embellishments, yet he does it so darn well!!! Me and my mate have ripped this song to pieces to try and copy it, but niether of us can crack it! It's very annoying.
Does anyone out there play this 'accurately'? And if so, what's the tab/picking pattern? There's lots of various one's on the web - some of which are very close, but not Ralph Mctell standard. I don't know if this guy is still around, but if I could I'd go and knock on his door and say "for God's sake, show me how you play that darn song!"
Never assume the other fellow has intelligence equal to yours. He may have more.
