Saw Springsteen the other night & he was stomping his foot on what looked like just a piece of wood while he was playing then I read it was something used by old blues players. Just wondering if anyone had any insight into this. Thanks.

It's basically just a wooden box, used to keep the rhythm. Same as tapping your foot on the floor but depending on the dimensions of the box gives a louder, deeper sound, like the difference between tapping on an oatmeal box and a 55 gallon drum. Hope that makes sense
Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.
