I was browsing throught he "Requests" section and found the request from Rodders for chords to "Deep Purple".
The link posted definitely provided excellent GuitarGuy chords for the song, but many of these are "colors" and "voicings".
I humbly submit a set of simplified chords we use in our piano-guitar duo, when we do this song.
I base it on the Nino-Tempo-April Stevens version from 1969.
Italicized chords may be omitted or played as single notes.

[G]When the [C]deep purple [A7] falls
Over [Dm7]sleepy garden [G7]walls
[G+]And the [C] stars begin to [Em7]flicker
In the [A7]sky
Through the [Dm7]mist of a [Fm] memory
You wander on [A7] back to me
[Dm7] Breathing my [G]name [G+]with a [C]sigh e-i-e-[A7]i-e, [Dm7] oh [G] oh..

In the [C]still of the [A7] night
Once a-[Dm7] gain I hold you [G7] tight
[G+]Though you're [C]gone
Your love lives [Em7] on
When moonlight [A7] beams
And as [Dm7] long as my [Fm] heart shall beat
Lover, we'll [A7] always meet
[Dm7] Here in my [G]deep [G+]purple [C]dreams [A7]...[Dm7] hmmm, mmm, hmmm, mmm

Instrumental break over verse 1

In the [C]still of the [A7] night
Once a-[Dm7] gain I hold you [G7] tight
[G+]Though you're [C]gone
Your love lives [Em7] on
When moonlight [A7] beams
And as [Dm7] long as my [Fm] heart shall beat
Lover, we'll [A7] always meet
[Dm7] Here in my [G]deep [G+]purple [E7]dreams [A7]...
[Dm7] Here in my [G]deep [G+] purple [C] dreams.

Shapes I use here:
A7: X02020 Dm7: xx0211 G+: XX1003 Fm: XX3111 Em7: X20000 E7:020100

Many thanks for this one OdNt43. Although I haven't tried it out yet it certainly looks a lot easier to play than the guitar guys version. I must admit that I did give up on that one, with a view to returning to it at a later date when I had a bit more chord knowledge.
I will be giving this a go later this weekend and will report back. Check this space

Thanks again,

Rod.

Be excellent to each other & party on dudes!

Thanks for the post OdNt43 . . . The wife sings great harmony and we used to sing this back in our high school days!! So this is fun to do together. I couldn't bring myself to tackle the "GuitarGuy version" (yet), but this one is easy and captures the beautiful essence of the song.

Thanks again,
Shug

You folks are most welcome...I am delighted to be of any help at all...this section says "Easy Songs" and a lot of them are easier than we think...
One annoying/aggravating thing I would recommend.... is learning all the "dim7" and "+" (augmented) shapes...there are so darned few of them, and they can all be played on either 3 or 4 strings...they add color and texture to songs to a degree that's hard to over-state.
Good playing, folks.... 8)
