Yea, I have to admit I like the song Mustang Sally. I don't know who sings it but it's been in lots of movie sound tracks and it's just cool. So if anyone plays this and wants to share I'll be lurking. :-)

Who?

Thanks for the very quick reply.

Do most of you play it like this? If so that'll get me back to playing B7. It's been awhile playing that open.

This is basically how I play Mustang Sally, but only in the key of C. I watched a guy play it last night, and he was playing it with a kind of boogie shuffle kind of thing instead of playing the full chords. It was like some kind of a blues shuffle and it really captured the essence of the song. Does anyone else play it like that or do you all use full chords?

I've been trying all morning to figure out what he was doing and I haven't had much luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I've also done it in C - as a cover of Pickett's version (his is actually a cover of Mack Rice's version - Rice wrote it)

The chords posted look workable, since it's basically just a I-IV-V tune - but the intro should have two chords, the I and bVII. If you do it in B as shown, go from B7 to A7 for the intro.

Do you strum straight chords or do you play a kind of shuffle?

Most recently I've done it with a 7-pc festival band. My guitar part for that tune is basically strums (a sort of funk rhythm) with some single bass notes.
