Hello here it is one of most famous metal ballads from the 80's, courtesy of Dokken. The song is included in their 1984 album “Tooth and nail” which by the way is one of the best example of US class metal, a genre which is utterly out of date today but dominated US charts until 15 years ago when grunge cleared it out. Of course George Lynch, one of the best guitarist from the 80's plays it with arpeggios and embellishments but the song could be also played in a quite simple strummin format and so this is what I'll describe here. First thing the chords: there are two chords which are not so usual for beginners: Emadd9 and B, the rest are the famous C, D, Em, A chords. Emadd9 could be substituted with an Em in any case it is quite simple since the only thing you have to do is touch the third string at the fourth fret instead of the second as in a regular Em chord, while B is played with a full and a small Barre on the second and fourth fret respectively. So

Emadd9: x24xxx
B: full barre on second fret (22222) and a small on the fourth (xxx444)

Chord changes:

every line is made of two measures unless where indicated, I write after each chord how long it lasts

strummin:

i use the following pattern

1:D
2: udu
3:D
4: udu

but of course you could change it in D ddu D ddu. The sound you should obtain is something like

“ton” – “ta_tataTon” “ta_tataTon” “ta_tataTon” “ta_tataTon” and so on

You could check songs using similar pattern: Iron maiden's “Journeyman”, Thin Lizzy's “Borderline”, Skid Row's “I remember you”, all posted in the easy song database. A simpler pattern could be

1:D
2: du
3:D
4: du

where you play two straight eight notes in the offbeat instead of the eight plus two sixtheens combination.

Anyway tried and let me know any mistakes

Matteo

Verse 1:
--------

Emadd9 (1) C (1/2) D (1/2)
I'd like to see you in the morning light.

Emadd9 (1/2) C (1/2) G (1/2) D (1/2)
I like to feel you when it comes to night.

Emadd9 (1) C (1/2) D (1/2)
Now I'm here, and I'm all alone.

C (1/2) D (1/2) B (1)
Still I know how it feels
C (1/2) D (1/2)
I'm alone again.

Chorus:
-------

Em (1) G (1/2) D (1/2)
Tried so hard, to make you see.

Em (1/2) G (1/2) D (1/2) A (1/2)
But I couldn't find the words.

Em (1) G (1/2) D (1/2)
Now the tears, they fall like rain,

C (1/2) D (1/2) Em (1)
I'm alone again without you.

C (1/2) D (1/2) Em (1)
Alone again without you.

C (1/2) D (1/2) Em (1)
Alone again without you.

C (1/2) D (1/2) Em add 9 (1),
Alone again, without you...

Verse 2:
--------

Emadd9 (1) C (1/2) D (1/2)
I said stay but you turned away.

Emadd9(1/2) C (1/2) G (1/2) D(1/2)
trying to say that it was me

Emadd9 (1) C (1/2) D (1/2)
Now I'm here, and i've lost my way.

C (1/2) D (1/2) B (1)
now I know how it feels
C (1/2) D (1/2)
I'm alone again.

chorus

repeat chorus after solo

just a quick note: the song becomes better if you substitute the quarter downstrum in the first and third beat of every measure with a bass note so the pattern woule be

b ddu
