Here's one for the ultra-beginner. I've been playing about a week now and this is the first song I learned (not tried, learned...)
1. The tempo is slow, so chord changes are rel. easy.
2. It doesn't seem to be that stumming pattern sensitive.
3. Remember: A to A7 involves only picking up the middle finger on the A-chord.
4. There seems to be a lot of room for some blues-type riffs in between chord changes when you get better.
This might be too basic for some of you guys, but some of us need a place to start. Play it for your wife...(she'll get a chuckle)
Help Me Make it Through the Night
[no chord or D]Take the ribbon from your [D]hair
shake it loose and let it [G] fall
laying soft against your [A] skin [A7]
like the shadows on the [D]wall
[no chord or D]Come and lay down by my [D]side
till the early morning [G]light
all I'm taking is your [A] time [A7]
help me make it through the [D] night
Chorus:
I don't care if it's right or [G]wrong
I don't try to under [D]stand
let the devil take to[E]morrow
'cause tonight I [A]need a friend
[no chord or D] Yesterday is dead and [D]gone
and tomorrow's out of [G]sight
and it's sad to be [A]alone [A7]
help me make it through the [D]night
Outro:
[no chord]I don't wanna be [A]alone
help me make it through the [G]night [D]

They say only a pawnshop guitar can play the blues. An eBay one does it better. A guitar's bound to feel unloved if her owner plasters pictures of her over the internet for all to see and then sells her off to the highest anonymous bidder.
Nice first offering Dustdevil,
Perfect for beginners!
Welcome to the ESD. You're right you can improvise on to this. I'll have to work on it, maybe I could make a real Elvis style job of it.
Hope she does help me make it through the night!!!!
Best regards,
Chris
The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
Waaaaaaay back in the 70's - when Gladys Knight had a huge hit with this - I always thought this would've been a great song for Rod Stewart to cover.......but he never did......
Nice job,nice easy song....
:D :D :D
