Here's a great song and fairly simple (only three chords as Cheech would say).

The strumming pattern is: down up down / down up down / down up down

For those that aren't used to playing barre chords this is a good song to learn on.

The song is basically stripped down to these three chords: A E B

A E B

x A E A C# E E B E Ab B E x B F# B Eb x
================ ================ ================
| | | | | | | | | (1) | | | | | | | |
+--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+
| | (1)(2)(3) | | (2)(3) | | | ( )(1) | | | ( )
+--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
+--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | (3)(3)(3) |
+--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

Using first position chords if fairly straight forward, but here is the barre chords for the A and B in the fifth and seventh position:

A (5 fr.) B (7 fr.)

A E A C# E A B F# B Eb F# B
+--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+
(1) | | | (1)(1) 5 fr. (1) | | | (1)(1) 7 fr.
+--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+
| | | (2) | | | | | (2) | |
+--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+
| (3)(4) | | | | (3)(4) | | |
+--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+
| | | | | | | | | | | |
+--+--+--+--+--+ +--+--+--+--+--+
| | | | | | | | | | | |

Using these barre chords can take some practice, but it's good to learn as this song becomes fairly easy once you get a handle of barre chords. Because if you will notice, that the A and B chord is the same fingering pattern, except the B Chord is in the seventh position. In order to get to the E Chord, you only have to slide your hand up to the E chord position and lift your index finger:

E
E B E Ab B E
================
| | | (2) | |
+--+--+--+--+--+
| (3)(4) | | |
+--+--+--+--+--+
| | | | | |
+--+--+--+--+--+
| | | | | |
+--+--+--+--+--+
| | | | | |

So basically this song has only one chord position E Shape. Here's the song:

GLORIA - Van Morrison

A E B A E B
Like to tell you ‘bout my baby
A E B A E B
You know she comes round
A E B A E B
Just about five feet four
A E B A E B
From her head to the ground
A E B A E B
Well she comes around here
A E B A E B
Just about midnight
A E B A E B
She makes me feel so good Lord
A E B A E B
Makes me feel alright

Chorus:
A E B A E B A E B A E B A E B A E B A E B
Here name is G – L – O – R – I – A
A E B
G – L – O – R – I – A
A E B
G – L – O – R – I – A
A E B
G – L – O – R – I – A

Alright one time, yeah she comes around

Here, Just about midnight

Makes me feel so good Lord

Makes me feel alright

Walking down my street

Comes up to my house

She knocks upon my door

Makes me feel alright

Repeat Chorus

I love Gloria by Van Morrison., I play the original version form the original vinyl album titled "Them".
A E B is an awfully uncomfortable way to play this song. originally, it was E D A.
if you play those open chords it becomes very easy.

Hey thanks dogbite,

What ever works... so anyone that would like to play with open chords, just replace the chords with a search and replace and you're golden.
