Maybe Mark can add a “Riff” section to his chords window.
I think it would be fun to have some simple riffs, like smoke on the water, ect.
The practicing playing these short songs is good thing to build up finger strength.

A riff repository...  A place to store all those rock riffs, blues licks and flamenco falsetas... Hmmmmm....

all in one position, and you've learned a scale.  I have no idea what scale it would be, but it's something.  Some kind of Am/chromatic hybrid?  Way beyond my last theory lesson.
And I like the idea of a "Riff Repository".

Essentially, yes.  A minor with accidentals/passing notes/bends

Note that in real life musical compositions, be they pop, jazz or classical, it is very rare to find one that keeps within a strict diatonic scale with no outside notes.

It is the accidentals that add life and interest to the song, so don't be afraid to use them in your songwriting or when coming up with a solo or bassline.  Just be prepared to reject those that don't sound so good.

It is particularly cool to use the notes a semitone above and below important ones like the 3rd and 5th to approach and accent them.
