I seem to recall someone asking about this, but I can't seem to locate the search function to find it.

Anyway, this is the studio version from the Beautiful Loser album (the live version is done in E with no capo). The strumming pattern is D DU UDU, with a palm mute on the second downstoke of the measure. The pattern changes during the song, with some additional palm muting, but this pattern works pretty well all the way through.

Capo 1st fret

Words and music by Bob Seger

C F
Jody girl, Jody girl, spend your time today
G C
Watching clocks spin the hours away.

Jody girl, you know the world's
F
Goin' around all day,
G C
Thinking back to the things you used to say.
N.C. G
Didn't he put you on a pedestal,
C
When first you met?
G
Sure was some honeymoon,
F C
Ain't it hard to forget?
N.C. G
What ever happened to that crazy boy
C
With the love light in his eyes?
G F C
Used to bring you flowers every day.

F C
Now you sit here on a cloudy afternoon
F C
Watchin' a soap opera on the TV
F
Your old man's workin'
C
And your kids are out playin'
F C
And you're not feelin' too free.
F C
Keep thinkin' back, thinkin' back to high school,

Those high school days.
F C
All those wild, wild, wild good times you had.
F C
All those boy friends, boy friends knockin' at your door.

C
Jody girl, Jody girl,
F
Spend your time today
G C
Watchin' clocks spin the hours away.

Jody girl, you know the world's
F
Goin' by all day.
G C
Thinkin' back to before you promised to stay.
N.C. G
Didn't he put you on a pedestal

When first you met?

Sure was some honeymoon –
F C
Ain't it hard to forget?

Blame it on the lies that killed us, blame it on the truth that ran us down.
