Time I gave some more, so here is a classic song from America of ''Horse With No Name'' fame. I've always loved their music.
I found this really easy to play. You'll have to listen to it on the America Greatest Hits CD to get the strum pattern which is easy to grasp.
Verse 1:
(Am)Ain't it foggy outside
(F)all the planes have (Em) been grounded
(Am) ain't the fire inside
(F) let's all go stand (Em) around it
(Am) funny, I've been there
(D) and you've been here
(G) and we ain't had no time (Am) to drink that beer
Chorus:
cause (Am) I understand you (G) been runnin' from the man
that (D) goes by the name (Am) of the sandman
(Am) He flys the sky like (G) an eagle in the (D) eye of a hurricane
(Am)thats abandoned
Verse 2:
(Am) Ain't the years gone by fast
(F) I suppose you (Em) have missed them
(Am) and I almost forgot to ask
(F) did you hear of (Em) my enlistment
Then play the Chorus again as above
Followed by Verse 1 again as above
And finally the Chorus one last time as above.
And there you are! easy eh!
Have fun with it
Chris

Thank You for posting this Chris,
This is my favorite America song.
Hiya Chris
Great to see you write "the strum pattern is easy to grasp"
Don't think you would have written that 12 months ago mate?
How's things, you enjoying your playing?
All the best
Matt
Hi Matt,
You are so right!
Playing strum patterns now I'm confident enough to play complete songs is a joy I find easy, I especially love palm muting.
I must admit though that I find describing a strum pattern very hard in words for the benefit of fellow learners on this forum. Checkout my Daydream - Lovin Spoonful post for example. I think I probably frightened everone off that one as its had no replies so far.
Thanks Matt for your interest in a fellow player's progress and yes I love guitar. Having interesting & helpful reply posts from other players is what GN is all about.
Cheers for now,
Chris
