Right here's another one, and this too is pretty good for newbies - if you can't handle the intro solo, don't panic, just strum the intro chords in a DDUUD fashion and you're away.
Anyway, a few playing tips. As far as the intro goes, barre the 12th fret for the E, B, G and D strings, and leave the barre in place, don't be tempted to move it. And for the bits using fret 14, just barre that as well with your ring / middle finger (according to finger size!). Then its a case of just adding / taking away a finger according to need. I am sure you can work it out after that.
Strumming. All the strumming for this is DDUUD, and you hold each chord for TWO bars. So for instance the first line is D (D) Cadd9 (Cadd9)
She's got a smile that it seems to me Reminds me of childhood memories
the chords in brackets show where the second bar starts. So you're strumming pattern should be - (note this is the ENTIRE FIRST VERSE)
D (dduud) D (dduud) Cadd9 (dduud) Cadd9 (dduud)
Gadd5 (dduud) Gadd5 (dduud) D (dduud) D (dduud)
D (dduud) D (dduud) Cadd9 (dduud) Cadd9 (dduud)
Gadd5 (dduud) Gadd5 (dduud) D (dduud) D (dduud)
ok so we've covered the first verse. All verses are the same, lovely. So the only bit to really look at it the chorus. On the chorus, stay on the chord for one bar only, APART from the D which you hold for TWO.
OK got that, well here you go...4/4

Yet another wonderful song for us. Nice and easy and great to singalong. I have to work on the intro though. Thanks alot Matt
Matt,
Great song. Heres an alt. strumming pattern DD/UUD found at http://www.grouptherapy.guernsey.net/strumming.html . You keep knocking them out faster than i can play them. I'm not complaining mind you. LOL
Jim
thanks for the comments guys.
If its any consolation, I am really struggling with the intro too - be a lot easier on electric i reckon, but hey that's life!
All the best
Matt
Matt,
For acoustic purposes, transpose the intro/solo down to the first position. So 12 would be open, 14 would be 2, 15 would be 3, etc. Might not sound right on the electric, but it makes for a nice acoustic version.

Wow what happened to my tab?
Jim,
Yes, looks ugly  but that's exactly what I'm talking about.
There's a specific way to get tabs lined up properly. Its been posted a bunch of times, I just can't seem to find it right now...
Steve
If you surround them with ...
tags they will line up properly. So if you type this:
|--------------3-----2----|--------------3-----2----|
|-----3-------------------|-----3-------------------|
|--------2--0-----2-----2-|--------2--0-----2-----2-|
|--0----------------------|--0----------------------|

Too funny I just thought of this in my sleep last night. I just wasn't fast enough.

Newbie accually learned something. You can take a chord and move it around the neck. Man, I love this site.
Thanks Guys

I second that, this site is the best thing that's ever happened to me online. Its such a rareity to find a site with no back stabbing, no egos, and genuinely helpful people that give up their time to help others.
That's one of the reasons i do try and post songs on the ESD and try and explain in my own simple way how to play them. Its just i feel like its giving something back when we make the effort to do this.
I was reading a post the other day from someone who listed out all the songs they had learned off the ESD, and it was a LOT. And I thought to myself how great it is to be able to go into one site, and learn all that stuff.
Much respect to everyone on here...and let's hope it carries on like this for as long as possible.
All the best
Matt
