I have been trying to figure this out for quite a while now, this was a massive hit here in the UK and has been sampled for other tracks quite a lot already.

So Chris (Dogsbody) I hope you enjoy it! Its all open chords. There are a couple of things to point out....

Strum pattern. For most of the verses you want to do a Down (pause) up / down / up. You can pretty much do this throughout APART from the section that goes G - G/f# - Em. This section is important, you want to really concentrate on the low E string. On the G you're fretting it at the 3rd fret, on the G/f# the second fret, and the Em play it open. An effective way of playing this on this song is hit the low E string then do a down strum, for each bit - thus

G - hit low E string, downstrum to..
G/f# - hit low E string, downstrum to..
Em - hit low E string, downstrum.

Only other thing is timing. Hold the chorus chords for twice as long as the verse!

Hope everyone understands that bit. The other good thing is that if you are familiar with the song, its not too hard to sing along to. Dido just sings along like she's in the bath.....mmm nice thought. Best get back to playing the song...!

So here you go, hope you enjoy it.

LAST THING - CAPO ON 4TH FRET!!!!
THANK YOU - Dido

My tea's gone cold, I'm wondering why I
G G/F# Em

Cmaj7 D
The morning rain clouds up my window

Em Cmaj7 D
I drank too much last night, got bills to pay
G G/F# Em
my head just feels in pain.
Cmaj7 D
I missed the bus and there'll be hell today,
G G/F# Em
I'm late for work again.
Cmaj7 D
And even if I'm there, they'll all imply
G G/F# Em
that I might not last the day.
Cmaj7
And then you call me and it's
Em Cmaj7
not so bad, it's not so bad and

CHORUS:
G C
I want to thank you
G C
for giving me the best day of my life.
G C
Oh just to be with you
Bm Am
is having the best day of my life

(REPEAT CHORUS INSTRUMENTALLY)

Em Cmaj7 D
Push the door, I'm home at last
G G/F# Em
and I'm soaking through and through.
Cmaj7 D
Then you hand me a towel
G G/F# Em
and all I see is you.

And even if my house falls down

I wouldn't have a clue.

Thanks Matt,

I'll have to put this one on my to do list as not knowing much of Dido's output I don't know the song, or at least I think I don't. I'll have to borrow my son's CD's when he's not looking to find this one.
I can't get over how much info your able to give to help us along with your offerings. Please keep it up!

Cheers for now

Chris.

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
