Hi everyone, this is a repost as it disappeared last night (See News forum), either that or I'm going nuts!

Anyway, Thursday night went the pub with a mate for a drink or two (rare thing these days) There were two guys playing an acoustic set, pretty good too. My ears pricked up when I heard them play the opening riff of this gem. I've always liked "Crowded House" and their later incarnation "The Finn Brothers" and this is a classic and one of their best songs in my opinion from their "Woodface" album.

Well, I watched how it was played intently and decided that it can't be that hard.(Found that as a learning guitar player I do get lost in how the song is played rather than just enjoying it, how about the rest of you out there?)

Trawled the tab sites and found this easy version in Em key. Probably not the original key. So no credit to me I have just cut and pasted this with very slight tidying up.

I surprised myself in that I could play the lead guitar part too. (Must be easy!) With a bit of practice I could get good. Must present this to Rodders as a joint effort next time we have a jam session. Yeah! me going up to fret 12, let alone finding it!!! Until now an almost unexplored zone on my guitar's neck!!

The Strum Pattern? well I am lucky enough to just feel how it goes. Maybe we could all do what Mattguitar suggested with his "Breakfast In America" project and all contribute improvements through this forum.

Anyway here it is:

Nice post. Great tune by a great band. I too enjoy the Finn's in all of their incarnations, from
Split Enz to Crowded House, solo efforts, Finn, The Finn Brothers, etc. They are master songwriters and excellent musicians. I have many of their tunes in my binder. Nice to see them get some kudos by others.

Keep up the good work!!!

I agree to the thing about loosing some of the "feel" to music by getting into the habit of analytical listening. Whenever I hear a really good song now I always find myself trying to deconstruct it in my head and get a sense for why it works. But in a way it gives the song a different kind of value, and usually makes me develop more respect for the artist, rather then blind praise.

And thanks for the song. I'll give it a try.

"Like the coldest winter chill. Heaven beside you. Hell within." -Jerry Cantrell

Nice job Chris, but I will have to listen to this first to refresh my memory on how the rhythm goes.

Be excellent to each other & party on dudes!
