Beginner amp setup ??????

Hi, I have a Livingstone amp which is a nonamer. As I'm a beginner to to basic setting up of an amp, where do i start if i want a clean sound or a surf sound or what ever.

I recommend a Line 6 Spider IV 15 watt as a beginner.

Livingstone.. that's a budget solid state isn't it?

Best to run it clean - ie don't turn the gain up. If you wanna get some dirt on there then an OD or distortion pedal will be better than overdriving the amp. EQ it to taste - the best way to work out how to set an amp is to plug into it, twiddle the knobs and see how it sounds.
