My Boss GT-10m has one emulated. I understand that their commonly used. Would anyone care to point me to a song or two that would serve as a good example for Flanger use. I'll kind of go backwards from there and learn this effect.
Thanks in advance,
Roy

One of the most famous uses: EVH on Unchained.
Also listen to the main riff of Rush's Spirit of Radio; it's what gives the guitar that swirling metallic sound.

"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
Awesome. thank's, slej. I twiddled with my settings, thinking that perhaps Boss or a user from a downloaded patch had made my Flanger over the top. It was. I brought it way down and it seems useful now. I Actually heard "Bridge of sighs" when I fiddled downwards and decided to stop there for a while.
Thanks again. 8)

These videos are pretty good. This one is for flangers. It helps to identify the different sounds you can get.
Nuno, I almost forgot to come back and thank your for the link. I don't like the guy's delivery all that much, but it was a great, short video for flanger effects pedals and is fairly portable to other brands as well. He's got a whole little series of them as well. Looks like he works for Boss, who now seem like the un-coolest pedal makers on the planet. I've seen "no boss please" in many a Craig's List WTT ad.
So at any rate, thanks for the link. 8)

You are welcome! :D
Roland is Boss. The guitar player is Johnny De Marco, very skilled guy. He makes demo videos for Boss/Roland but there are several good videos just playing. I remind him playing The Entertainer by two hands tapping.
I like those videos because they explain the use of the effects and what do you can get. They explain the effect and not the specific pedal box. I agree, you can apply it to other brands.
On Boss. I only have a Boss pedal, I bought it the last week and it is the looper, the RC-2. A friend of mine hates the Boss pedals and he never allows me to buy one. When I bought the RC-2, I asked to the salesman what is wrong with the Boss pedals. I think he gave me the best opinion I have heard on Boss pedals: "some guys don't like the blondes".
People join the digital/analog war to the true-bypass/buffered war.
Tone is subjective but it is in the sound (and fingers) not in the specs!
I'm a firm believer that why have one when you can have both? I think it's the American way.
I do like my digital and my analog toys. Such fun.

Nuno,
I have the RC-2 also and I love blondes.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!
