how considerable is the difference between the digitech rp 50 and the behringer v-amp 2?

the rp 50 is nearly 40 dollars cheaper, though it does not come with a carry bag or cable. however i can just purchase a short cable and place it right now to the amp. room is not really a concern for me as i'm a beginner and live in a dorm room anyway.

:)

IMHO: the V-amp is decent. The digitech is not even mediocre. Zoom and Digitech have some other devices in the $100 range, you might want to check those out as well. Remember that the RP50 is *really* old, and in the land of digital stuff that is not a good thing at all.

I have the RP80, which is similar to the RP50 except the RP80 has a foot pedal (there might be a few extra features too). I don't mind it, I play it through my amp and I can get some pretty good amp modeling sounds through it in my opinion, although i think i'd eventually upgrade to something better it's really not too bad, the only thing i don't like about it is that the only way to go from a clean sound to a dirty sound is to either switch presets (which has a slight delay and would sound odd in a live setting), or program the foot pedal to control gain, which works, but then you have no way to control any other parameter (reverb, delay, effects, etc.). Since the RP50 doesn't have a foot pedal this would be something for you to consider.

I can't say anything about the Behringer, but I've heard good things from people who own it on this forum. As far as the Digitech goes, it's not a bad pedal for the price in my opinion, especially for a beginner.

Check out the threads in the "I'm looking for a new" forum. There's lots of info there about multi-fx boxes.

And also the "From here to there" forum, I (with the help of Misanthrope) was evaluating a Zoom G2 some of its sounds.

EDIT: Sorry, I though this post was in other forum :(
