Im learning the rythm to Red House for an upcoming jam with a friend who can play the lead. I know its a 12 bar blues progression and all that stuff. I learned it in the key of B. My friend plays it in the key of A. So for me to play it in A im pretty sure I would just go two frets toward the headstock. However when playing the IV chord in the key of B(which is E) the open E string is used. How do i move it to a D chord(for the key of A)?I cant slide it two frets toward the headstock because of the open E string that is played. thanks

You'll have to use a different D chord, since there's no way to get lower than low E. That, or have the other guitar capo up two frets - then you can play it in B.
