I tried this at another forum but it did not go over too well. I wasn't sure where to post this so I'll put here.

I have heard/read that ther are no new stories. They have all been written years and years before--Basically tradgedy and comedy-- and that all stories written are a repeat of this/that theme.

I would like to try an experiment becuase I think chord progressions can be considered the same way. They have all been played before just the rhythm and placements(is it every 4 bars or every beat) change.

So here is the first with an example to give you an idea of how it should work. I'll keep this one simple and if it seems to work out we'll move to more advance/lengthy chord progressions.

1st song/chord progression.

E D A

"Ramble on" Led Zep

the next person would submit--

E D A

"Black" Pearl Jam

Next Person...

Next person....
Etc.

Interested to see if this takes off.

What I am trying to get a sense of is just how many different songs we all know, play, and sing to that have a very common thread--the chord progression. This should help open the gates to taking things we know and experimenting with them to create fresh "ideas".
