Mountains and Beanstalks

Hey!

I like this bit in particular:

Take your cows to market
and watch today unroll
Like wool does in the pantry
Like joy does in the soul

The bit I am struggling with is:

No lie today is not real

- because of the double negative I lose my hold on the meaning of that verse. Might just be me, see what others say.

Also, I kind of felt that 'and no air' was a bit redundant after 'find no oxygen', but the rhyme it lends might be necessary for the music.

Do you have any music for this one yet?

It doesn't fit in at all, I added it in haste after finishing the song (or, so I thought) and finding it lacking in length. I like the words though, I think I'll base another song around them one day.

You're right about the double negative being confusing, but I felt to fit into the song it had to be worded like this. Unless of course someone can come up with something better? :D

I love the whimsical nature of your lyrics.

'No lie today is not real' could be replaced by:

'There is no lie today that's real'

I also like the 'There's a place today that is not there ...'

How about something like this:

'There's a place today that is not there
Where you'll find no oxygen - no air,
No sun, no rain, no weather at all,
And the day doesn't dawn and the night doesn't fall.'

i really like this, im a great fan of putting storys and fantast elements into lyrics and i feel that here and i think you did it well. I dont think the 'oxygen' line completely throws it off.....its not a word id consider to be out of context with the rest of the song......it would just depend on how you sing it when musics to it i guess.. And music for it...well im going rather slowish acoustic but thats prob just cuz its me lol.......keep um comming tho!!!

Do you have a melody, too, as I have been improvising over your chord progressions?

Cool! How did you work with it then? Sorry, but I don't really know how to answer your melody question, but I just hit a bass note on each chord and strum up and down. Sorry if I'm getting too technical here, heh.
